This guide shows the steps required to successfully download and install the epiKshare appliance from an image provided by epiKshare.
Before deploying the epiKshare appliance, please make sure that
- The hard drive you're using doesn't contain any data you don't want to lose
- There is a network connection to the server (best with internet access)
- You have read all the steps of this guide
- Select "Install epiKshare..." from the boot menu
Confirm the disk format to install the appliance. This step can take a while because a new disk layout is created, automatically populated with filesystems and filled with your brand-new epiKshare appliance.
Upon the confirmation of this step, your hard disk will be formatted and all data stored on it will be overwritten. Please make sure you know what you're doing. If you're not wanting to install epiKshare on this machine for the first time, this might not be the right thing to do for you.
After the deployment of the image, the system boots for the first time.
The first step on the new system is to define its hostname.
After the hostname, there comes the network setup. Please don't skip the wizard as you will not be able to access your fresh installation if you choose to skip the network setup.
Select the network interface of your choice and click "Edit" to assign a network address to it.
You may either use DHCP or enter a fixed IP address of your choice. If you're unsure what to select or enter here, please ask your network administrator. After entering the address, please click "Next".
The confirmation within one network interface's setup brings you back to the network interface selection. If you've finished setting up the network properties, proceed by clicking "Next" once again.
- Please double-check that the hostname and IP address(es) you've entered is valid and correct for your epiKshare server.
That's it, congratulations! If you see this screen, you have just succeeded in setting up your epiKshare appliance. You may now access your epiKshare appliance by entering the hostname/IP address in a browser of your choice and/or proceed with our First Steps Guide.
